NPP Opens Nominations For Parliamentary Primaries

The nomination forms for a parliamentary candidate who is not allowed access to them in the constituency must be purchased from the regional secretariat. If this is not possible, the forms can be downloaded from the party website (www.newpatrioticparty.org).

Aspirants who downloaded nomination forms from the party website were instructed to provide evidence that they were not given the chance to purchase the forms at the constituency or regional levels upon submission. Forms printed from the party website were to be turned in to the general secretary at the party’s national secretariat in Accra.

Filing fees

The announcement stated that candidates would need to pay a non-refundable filing fee of GH¢35,000 in addition to the GH¢3,000 nomination forms.

Women, people with impairments, and young people will receive a 50% reimbursement on the filing fee.

A youth, for emphasis, is a person who is between the ages of 18 and 40, as stated in the statement.

Moreover, candidates must pay a GH¢40,000 non-refundable development fee. All payments must be submitted to the New Patriotic Party National Headquarters in Accra via banker’s draft.

Appeals

Furthermore, it stated that appeals from disqualified parliamentary candidates will be decided by the National Parliamentary Appeals Committee, which will meet from Wednesday, January 10, 2024, to Friday, January 12, 2024 (if any). The deadline for submitting appeals to the council is Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

It additionally said that nomination forms, which would be made accessible to prospective parliamentary candidates upon form purchase, would include comprehensive rules and procedures for the parliamentary primaries.
In the statement, the party reaffirmed its commitment to free, fair, and transparent parliamentary primaries and urged all interested parties to lend their support.
