According to reports, José Mourinho informed Manchester United that some players and personnel who had stayed with the team during his time there would not be able to help them prosper.
From 2016 to 2018, Mourinho was United’s manager. In his first season, he won the Europa League and the Carabao Cup, and in his second season, he came in second to Manchester City. He took over as Roma’s coach at the beginning of the 2021–2022 season.
“After two months, I said [United]: With these guys, you are never going to do it. There are still people in that club. When I say people, I mean some players but also some other people who are not players. And they remain there, Mourinho stated on the Obi One podcast with John Obi Mikel.
Mourinho added that he realized he needed to modify his managerial approach after seeing a player’s response at United upon being substituted.
“I made a player substitution at halftime at Manchester United.” At that point, his agent accused me of being a bully,” the Portuguese coach stated.
