Justice Eric Adjei-Frimpong, a nominee to the Supreme Court, has suggested separating those who have been found guilty from those who are still awaiting trial and in detention.
He claims that this will help ease jail congestion, as there have been many grievances raised regarding the scarcity of room.
Justice Adjei-Frimpong said during his vetting by the Parliamentary Appointments Committee on Wednesday that jails are extremely overcrowded, which makes it challenging to categorize inmates.
“There needs to be action taken because individuals who have committed less serious offenses are grouped with prisoners and criminals,” he stated.
