Authorities in South Korea will also support the advancement of safety technologies that surpass current models and next-generation artificial general intelligence (AGI).

By 2030, Yoon wants to see South Korea get to the top three in the world for AI technologies, including chips, and capture at least 10% of the world market for system semiconductors.

“We will write a new semiconductor myth with AI chips in the next 30 years, just as we have dominated the world with memory chips for the past 30 years,” Yoon declared.

Yoon also stated that although the impact of the recent earthquake on South Korean companies was minimal at this time, he ordered comprehensive planning in case of unpredictability. Taiwan is a world leader in chip manufacturing.
