“I needed to adapt. These are different times, yet I remember them and laugh about them.

After losing 2-0 to Thiago Motta’s Bologna on Sunday, Roma is currently seventh in Serie A. However, Mourinho stated before the game that he would prefer to stay in the Italian city until his contract expires in June 2024.

“There are a lot of things that irritate me, but nothing compares to how connected I feel to this team,” Mourinho remarked.

“It won’t be my choice if I depart at the conclusion of the season. This is where I want to go, and I mention this because sometimes it’s best to be explicit.

“It is preferable to work with young players than guys who don’t give you anything if we are unable to sign elite players, like [Romelu] Lukaku, for example.”

Although Mourinho has stated in the past that he turned down a rich offer from Saudi Arabia, he is “convinced” that he will eventually work in the Gulf state.

Roma advanced to the Europa League final and placed sixth in Serie A the previous year. During Mourinho’s first season in charge, they won the Europa League.
