Dan Kwaku Yeboah, a sports writer, has expressed surprise at the negative response he received after asking former President John Mahama to return all gifts he had received.

He claimed that some individuals attacked him in a variety of ways simply for expressing his viewpoint on a topic of national importance.

According to Ghanaweb, he stated, “They’ve washed me like galamsey pit,” while appearing on the Ekwanso Dwoodwoo program on Peace FM.

“…on the same platform, we talk about Nana Addo, the health minister, and many other persons, but why has the ex-gratia become a problem?

“We weren’t even trying to be evil; all we were saying was that Togbe Afede had already done it, so he should just do it too. These types of events are inevitable because they strengthen our democracy.
