Officer only given his first name
The killed policeman, who was pulled from the van after the criminals fled, has been officially certified dead.
Even though the brief police report on the incident only gave a partial name for him, Star Oil’s statement gave Amoah as the only name.
Police start looking for robbers.
In their statement made hours after the crime, the police revealed that a manhunt was underway for the killers, in contrast to several social media rumors that the police had apprehended the robbers.
The statement added, “The Police are on a manhunt to apprehend a gang of four robbers who attacked a bullion van at Ablekuma Fanmilk, a suburb of Accra, and shot the Police escort who, sadly, passed away.”
