The face of the other primary candidate for the job of party National Chairman is Asiedu Nketiah, also known as General Mosquito.

He has held the position of NDC General Secretary since 2005, making him one of the party’s most important figures.

Born in Seikwa, Brong Ahafo Region, on December 24, 1956, he had training in petty trade, Akpeteshie distilling, palm wine tapping, and a drinking establishment.

He received his education at the University of Ghana before working as a banker before going into politics.

In 1989, he stood for and won the Wenchi District Assembly elections, which marked his political debut. In 1992, he was elected to the Consultative Assembly.

He served in that capacity for 12 years and was a member of the committee that produced Ghana’s 1992 constitution, which is still in effect today.

He was elected to the legislature in 1992 as the representative for the Wenchi West seat, where he served for 12 years.

The Appointments Committee, Finance Committee, Public Accounts Committee, Chairman Mines and Energy Committee, and Minority Spokesperson on Food, Agriculture, and Cocoa Affairs were just a few of the committees he served on during his term in the House of Representatives.

Asiedu Nketiah worked as the deputy minister for food and agriculture from 1997 until 2001. (Crops).

He opted to leave parliamentary service and ran for the NDC General Secretary job, which he easily won in the 2005 party elections.

As the third General Secretary of the party, he guided the party to victory in the 2008 and 2012 elections, resulting in John Evans Atta Mills and John Dramani Mahama becoming the presidents of the nation.

Numerous accomplishments have been credited to him, including the same glory that Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, his rival, extols: creating Ghana’s first hung parliament and electing the opposition party’s first Speaker of Parliament.

He had declared his intention to hang up his boots as the NDC’s General Secretary after 17 years of service and to continue serving as the party’s National Chairman.
