During the legislative discussion of the VAT Amendment Bill, Deputy Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo Markin and Ranking Member of Finance Isaac Adongo got into a furious argument.
Adongo’s assertion that the VAT Amendment Bill attempted to impose new taxes was refuted by Afenyo Markin, who accused Adongo of not having read the bill.
He issued a warning: “Don’t just remark because you want to enjoy your right to oppose the government; don’t talk about the imposition of taxes if you haven’t read.”
“Isaac Adongo, you claimed that Uber drivers will suffer. Are you suggesting that we shouldn’t support domestic auto production? Have you perused this memo? He stated.
Ato Forson, the minority leader, spoke up and pleaded with the speaker to give Isaac Adongo the opportunity to address any misinformation about his purported inability to understand the VAT Amendment Bill in front of the house.
