But Kwesi told BBC One’s Reunion Hotel, “I always had a belief that I will find her one day.”
Well, dreams (beliefs) do come true, and that was how Kwesi got to reconnect with his daughter after 45 years.
And the best part of this story is that while Kwesi always knew a day like this would come, which is why he kept looking for Ruth, his daughter had also been searching for him.
As a result, it did not take long for them to start crying at their first encounter and to simply sit back and take in the fact that they had finally found each other.
There are no questions left after seeing how much they resemble each other.
Kwesi tells Ruth, “You’ve been on my mind for a long, long time,” to start their chat.
“Relax, it’s not your fault. It is not the responsibility of children to know what happened to their parents. I’ve always wanted to just locate you and tell you who you are, but you’ve always been there. This is the cause, as I’m sure you’ve ever questioned your Black side identity.
And I was aware of it all along. Upon first meeting his daughter, an emotional Kwesi wept uncontrollably and stated, “I’m just so, so happy that I’ve found you.”
