“In my opinion, maybe travelling to the Ministry from Amasaman, Pokuase costs about 10 to 15 cedis, so I don’t see the reason,” she continued.
Another person said: They are stating they are not going to deliver anything of that nature, which is terrible because I wanted some perishable foods. It’s a really nice activity, but when I saw the plantain, I was anticipating a lower price; after making some comparisons, I noticed that the prices here are a little high. If they can lower the price for us a little, that would be great.
The Ministry sponsors the PFJ market, which was created to protect people from the rising prices of food supplies in the city.
Last week, sector minister Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto remarked, “The ministry itself is going to take its own initiative,” during a meeting with farmers in Sefwi Wiaso in the Western North Region.
The minister declared, “We are going to hook up with the farm gate so that we can make all the arrangements to make sure that we put up kiosks on our compounds at the ministry, exclusively for food from here [Sefwi Wiaso] and we are going to give it a lot of publicity.”

The country has accomplished the most difficult feat in sub-Saharan Africa with a 122% increase in food costs.
