The management of the case by Mr. Atta-Akyea, who is also the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, has come under heavy scrutiny. Gyan’s attorney has charged him of acting as though he were the only commissioner in charge of the probe, which has led his legal team to express concern about the circumstance.
Mr. Gyan said, “He has his own agenda,” meaning that Chairman Atta-Akyea may have made his biased objectives known to all.
Additionally, Attorney Gyan charged Chairman Atta-Akyea with making unfavorable remarks in media interviews following committee meetings, including revealing information intended for in-camera hearings and inventing reports without a basis. In one case, he cited, Chairman Atta-Akyea alleged that a lengthy recording presented by Bugri Naabu that was not played during the committee’s deliberations had been altered. According to Attorney Gyan, such remarks are very prejudiced.
Although he respects Parliament, the organization, and the committee members, Lawyer Gyan has made it clear that going forward, he plans to take a more aggressive legal approach. He underscored that, in accordance with the Speaker of Parliament’s directive, he would hold Chairman Atta-Akyea accountable within the parameters of the committee’s established framework.
