More pressure on Rodgers?
The streakiness of Leicester’s season is ludicrous. They had a terrible season opener before going on a tremendous run leading up to the World Cup. After the break, they went three games without a loss before dropping their next four Premier League games (five including the FA Cup defeat by Blackburn).
They were jeered off at the end of the game because of their recent slump, which has brought them dangerously close to the relegation zone.
Their worst streak since November to December 2014 is five straight defeats. For the second time in league history, they have lost 16 Premier League games in a season, which is a record for Rodgers’ managerial tenure.
They have a tendency to not take risks, and despite having 17 shots compared to Chelsea’s 12 here, they only managed one goal.
With five shots, two on target, and three chances created, James Maddison was once again one of their standout players. However, none made it into the goal.
As his free kick connected with Daniel Amartey’s head in front of an open goal, he ought to have been credited with an assist, but the defense inexplicably missed it.
