Is Chelsea preserving their campaign?
Chelsea currently has victories over Leeds, Dortmund, and Leicester in the span of eight days after losing its previous six games during a five-week period.
They had gone 10 games without a victory on the road since October, which was the longest streak without an away victory since 2000–01.
After a challenging beginning in his first position with one of Europe’s top teams, Graham Potter will be hoping that today is the turning point. Even though they are just 10th right now, they are only two points away from a possible European spot.
As Chilwell met Kalidou Koulibaly’s cross and slammed it home, they took the lead on their first significant opportunity. He celebrated the goal against his former employers.
Felix’s shot past Danny Ward, which hit the post, and goal from Ruben Loftus-cross Cheek’s could have made it even better. Felix was ruled to be offside, and the VAR ruled it out as everyone gathered around the center circle prepared for a restart.
With a deft touch from Fernandez’s finish, Havertz did give them the lead once more.
Mudryk, an £89 million Ukrainian forward, surged by the Leicester defense to tuck in, but he was deemed outside. Soon after, Havertz crossed from the right, and Mudryk nodded down for Kovacic to lash in. This was his first assist in English football.
The VAR investigated the goal for possible Havertz offside, but the goal was upheld.
