After Google wrote the government a check for the full amount of monetary damages demanded in the complaint, the US federal judge determined on Friday that a judge, not a jury, would decide the antitrust lawsuit launched by the US government against Google.

The Biden administration’s first antitrust lawsuit against a big tech corporation concerns Google’s advertising technique. The Justice Department suffered a defeat on Friday when US District Judge Leonie Brinkema forgave a jury trial in this case.

In the ad-tech case, the DOJ and many states have claimed that Google intimidated publishers and advertisers into utilizing the business’s proprietary ad technology products and crushed competitors through anticompetitive mergers.
