The Kennedy Ohene Agyapong campaign team has called Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team’s assertion that he was offered $800 million to step down in favor of the vice president as absurd.

They claim that since the beginning of the flagbearer race, the campaign staff has never had a meeting with the Assin Central Member of Parliament.

“Speaker Dr. Gideon Boako signed the response on Monday, October 30. It stated that since Kennedy Agyapong entered the race, the Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, has not met privately with him.”

“Nobody has ever been told by the vice president to meet with Kennedy Agyapong or his delegates to negotiate anything regarding this campaign.

“This $800 million claim is completely absurd, and it shows a flagrant disrespect for the intelligence of Ghanaians,” the Vice President and his staff said.

The statement went on to say that Dr. Bawumia has always been sure he will defeat Mr. Agyapong and two other candidates on Saturday, November 4, to become the NPP’s flagbearer for 2024.

“Dr. Bawumia has never entertained any wish for him to withdraw from the competition. He is, and has always been, confident that by the Grace of God, he will defeat Hon. Kennedy Agyapong quite well on November 4th.”
