Grocery costs have not increased or decreased in recent months. However, compared to last year, some essential grilling items are more expensive.

According to Circana’s retail sales data for the US, prices for ground beef increased 6.4% by volume in the 12 months ending on April 21 over the same period last year. Potato chips saw a 6.9% increase in price, while packaged hamburger and hot dog buns saw a 7% increase.

The cost of ground beef has increased this year.

Prices for condiments increased more sharply: ketchup increased 8.9%, spicy sauce increased 7.6%, and ordinary barbecue sauce increased 14.6%.

Hot dogs saw a 1.4% gain, among other moderate increases.

However, the hikes do not account for the numerous Memorial Day sales this year.

“This year will see a lot of aggressive discounting,” stated Chris DuBois, EVP and practice leader at Circana for fresh goods. He stated that retailers “want to win the customer trip.””I would anticipate being able to draw them in with really substantial savings.
