George Alex Mensah, a retired commissioner of police, has reaffirmed his previous assertions that his audio tape leak was the brainchild of Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.
COP Mensah is heard in the aforementioned audio clip pleading with IGP Dampare to take over as chief of police and charging him with mishandling the police force.
He claimed that the IGP released the tape because they were worried that COP Mensah would take over for him.
“Someone realized he was not doing his job well and that he was going to get sacked, and knowing the person likely to succeed him after he is sacked, he will set him up,” COP Mensah said in an interview with Angel FM.
A week or so before his scheduled firing, he changed the arrangement and disseminated it via the media, pressuring everyone to do as he said. That’s what transpired, he claimed.
