The meeting discussed the significance and advantages of the rules that the authority is putting into place, particularly for the banking industry, which is one of the most developed markets for cybersecurity services.

Dr. Albert Antwi-Boasiako, the CSA’s director-general, and Mr. John Awuah, the GAB’s chief executive officer, led the discussions.

According to Dr. Antwi-Boasiako, the purpose of the exercise is primarily for the authority to start the cybersecurity industry’s development. The association’s support is needed to educate its members about the ongoing regulatory exercise of licensing and accreditation in order to protect critical information infrastructures and preserve the progress made in the sector.

He pointed out that without the proper regulatory framework, criminals and other bad actors might easily bring down the banking industry, which is heavily dependent on the internet.

As a result, in order for industry participants to adequately be ready for the new regime, communication and cooperation are required.

He went on to say that among other advantages, the regulatory exercise will provide experts who accept contracts in other nations legitimacy by promoting their professional exposure and serving as a prerequisite for membership in the Industry Forum.

He claims that the rise in internet activity has made the banking sector, which is among the most compliant, extremely vulnerable to attacks.
