Regarding the lithium lease arrangement between the government and Barari DV Ghana Limited, the Trades Union Congress (TUC) has expressed concerns.
There have been proposals for a significant overhaul of the nation’s resource management and mining legislation in response to the agreement addressed at the biannual General Council meeting. The October 2023 signing of the lithium lease deal was met with concerns from the TUC and other interested parties.
The Union cast doubt on Ghana’s ability to profit from its plentiful natural resources by claiming that the deal, as it stands, replicates the model of colonial concessions.
