Ruth Ama Gyan-Darkwa, a student at GH who is 18 years old, is the nation’s youngest-ever PhD candidate.

When the former St. Louis Senior High School student was admitted as KNUST’s youngest-ever student, she attracted initial notice. She is currently the youngest Ghanaian university graduate, having graduated at age 17.

Prior to SHS, she attended the Christ Our Hope International School and the Abraham Lincoln Junior High School in Kumasi.

Ruth is descended from a mathematical family; her father is a professor at Prempeh College. She stated the following:
