In a town hall meeting hosted by the Institute of Teacher Education and Development for the 2022/23 Cohort of the Leading Girls’ Learning Program, the National Teaching Council’s Registrar, Dr. Christian Addai-Poku, made this announcement (INTED).
He bemoaned that the exam results were concerning given the inadequate performance of the teachers who were supposed to be educating the kids.
The Education Act of 2008, Act 778, supported the government’s introduction of the NTLE in 2019, and the first teacher licensure examinations ever were held in September 2018.
Through the NTC, the government pursued two main initiatives to raise the prestige and professional standing of teachers in the nation: the adoption of teacher licences and ongoing professional development.
