This follows a rebel M23 attack in the DRC’s Goma province.
A few days prior to the attack, Kenya sent roughly 1000 soldiers to the DRC to support that nation.

East African governments are now adamant about stopping a full-fledged regional confrontation.

Due to an impending war between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, the past week has been extremely tense for the Eastern region of Africa.

Kenya has already sworn allegiance to the DRC side, citing the need to defend its business interests there. Forces have been dispatched, and money has been put aside to support those troops.
